Description: |
QoSDirector is the first QoS management solution that enables centralized policy-setting, distribution and control of remote QoS devices. With QoSDirector, administrators can easily manage large-scale QoSWorks and QoSArray deployments, optimizing network resources and delivering consistent, measurable service to users. The intuitive, browser-based application allows administrators to set and distribute precise policies for all traffic types across multiple locations. This ensures that mission-critical traffic and high priority users get the bandwidth they need, while, at the same time, fairly allocating remaining bandwidth to other locations, users and applications.
QoSDirector not only enables administrators to set global policies, but also monitor, enforce and refine them dynamically. Administrators can set thresholds for different traffic types, locations, and/users; QoSDirector then provides automatic alerts when thresholds are exceeded. This unique feedback loop allows administrators to see the immediate impact and effectiveness of policies and fine-tune them as network and/or user needs dictate - even on the fly.
Monitoring and control in one application
For the first time, network administrators have one central application for applying and enforcing QoS policies across large, geographically distributed networks. QoSDirector is the first QoS management solution that:
- Supports all QoSWorks and QoSArray devices in the network
- Provides policy-setting for all traffic types, enabling administrators to apply a full complement of QoS traffic management techniques
- Enables reliable and secure distribution of policies to groups of devices, or on a per device basis
- Incorporates event-driven policy thresholds and alerts so administrators know immediately if user or application activity is exceeding anticipated demands
- Allows fine-tuning of policies based on actual usage, even on the fly
- Provides meaningful management reports on network utilization for troubleshooting and capacity planning
Scalability to support large-scale deployments
QoSDirector leverages the power of strategically deployed QoS devices to provide flow control for all traffic in the network. This level of visibility, into both ends of the conversation, is particularly important for applications such as VOIP.
QoSDirector also provides a platform for growth, such as the ability to add more intelligence to do dynamic provisioning, i.e., automatically generate policies in response to alarms.
Easy integration with existing systems
QoSDirector is based on an open design that promotes easy integration with other systems in the network. For example, using QoSDirector’s XML, HTTP, SNMP (versions 1, 2c and 3) and CLI-based Applications Programming Interfaces (API), administrators can export data to existing systems, such as Operation Systems
Support and Billing Support Systems (OSS/BSS), and network management systems such as Hewlett-Packard OpenView and Concord Network Health. The QoSDirector architecture also supports the ability to exchange information with existing LDAP-based directories, and use industry standard relational databases for more sophisticated data storage and retrieval.
Provides management reports for performance against SLAs
Without efficient QoS and the management application to document the effectiveness of QoS policies, network administrators usually have to overprovision bandwidth in order to provide adequate service to users and applications. |
